ViewShareRemix (VSR) Frequently Asked Questions.
Q. Why did you start ViewShareRemix?
A. This is an important emerging area, and it needed a central site to support it. We think Open Content is where the innovation is happening because it is not constrained by the usual commercial imperatives. As more projects become ‘open’ we felt there was a need to centralize information, and provide resources to help support and accelerate the area.
Q. Aren’t you overlapping with Creative Commons?
A. No. Creative Commons provides tools for everyone to mark their creative work as Some Rights Reserved. They provide a legal framework, and publicise notable projects that are using these tools on their website. They do a great job, but they aren’t specifically focussed on open content, or enabling media experimentation and production. Also, there are some projects which don’t utilise Creative Commons that are valid subjects that we can feature and promote.
Q. I am a viewer/downloader not a creator. What can I get out of VSR?
A. Get the latest information on innovative open movies, music, books and gaming.
Q. I am a creator of an open media project or tool. How best can I use VSR?
A. Join to promote and discuss your project in the forums, add your project profile to our resources and provide updates on your project. Use the resources and tools to help develop your project.
Q. I have an idea for a VSR open content initiative. Can I submit it?
A. Of course. Pitch it in the forum, or contact us directly.
Q. Can my organisation/company become a patron, or sponsor an open content initiative or section of the site?
A. Yes, we rely on outside support to accelerate the open content space. Contact us directly to see what is the best fit as we offer various patron and sponsor packages.
Q. I have a question not included in this FAQ, where do I ask it?
A. Thanks for the input - please provide it in the forum topic.
