Leaping onto server mirrors for the millions of downloads it will undoubtably receive, Big Buck Bunny is the latest animation from the Blender Foundation. It takes a number of significant steps forward from their initial production, Elephants Dream.

A wildlife farce that’s an open movie version of a Pixar short
Whereas Elephants Dream was a non-narrative short showcasing the animation credentials of the open source 3D software, Blender, Big Buck Bunny see’s the team extend ambitions to go all amphropomorphic with a wildlife farce that’s an open movie version of a Pixar short.
Big Buck Bunny tells the story of a giant rabbit with a heart bigger than himself. When one sunny day three rodents rudely harass him, something snaps… and the rabbit ain’t no bunny anymore! In the typical cartoon tradition he prepares the nasty rodents a comical revenge.
