Latest: Radiohead open source music video?→
Radiohead are embracing the networked world with their content experiments as part of In Rainbows. They’re also becoming a geek’s fever dream, with the latest video for House of Cards comprised of data visualisations and made available for remixing. The project surely makes them the first band to have a Google code repository.
While not the first to use this type of imaging in music video to capture performance (I actually prefer this Colder video by UVA), the fact they’ve partnered with Google to release it is a major step forward. Imaging technologies used to capture the data: Geometric Informatics and Velodyne LIDAR. Geometric Informatics scanning systems produce structured light to capture 3D images at close proximity, while a Velodyne Lidar system that uses multiple lasers is used to capture large environments such as landscapes.
